Every driver has done it. I’m ashamed to admit I’ve done my share of it. Distracted driving. Any time your attention leaves the road, whether it’s your hands leaving the wheel, your eyes leaving the road, or your mind going for a wander, you’ve been guilty of distracted driving. Here are two reasons why distracted driving is so bad:
Perhaps the worst sin is texting while driving. Drivers who do this take their eyes off the road for an average of 4.6 seconds. Doesn’t seem like much, but it’s the equivalent of driving the length of a football field at 55 miles per hour. Blind. Headsets, you say? Research has shown that a drivers’ accuracy is significantly impacted when he is tending to tasks involving aural comprehension. Just don’t do it. It’s not worth it.
