It’s a cold blustery day up here in the Blue Mountains. Fresh from a bracing walk on the mountain trails, we head to The Lounge at Lilianfels in Katoomba for a spot of Devonshire tea. Cupping my mug of hot chocolate in one hand, I savour the gorgeous view while nibbling on my piping hot scone.

Practical Information

Katoomba is an hour and a half’s drive from Sydney. Alternatively, you can take the train from Sydney’s Central Station, which will get you to Katoomba in two hours. If you’re travelling with your family, consider visiting the Blue Mountains on a Sunday; with the Family Funday Sunday programme, each member of your family can travel anywhere on Sydney’s bus, train, lightrail and ferry network for a mere AUD 2.50.

We stayed at Lilianfels when we were in Australia – it was lovely, as were the 3 sisters! Thanks for the memory

More than welcome, Tina. I stayed next door at Echoes the weekend before I left Australia to go to business school. The views off my balcony were amazing.
