A few months after we first started dating, the Happy Gwailo had to go away for two weeks for work. By this time, I’d already moved into his house, so I had his house mates and dogs for company and wasn’t lonely.
But one thing that made those two weeks truly special was the many little notes I found. There was a note in my drawer, several on my clothes hangers, and even a telegram I received! Those notes made me feel truly special and loved.
Through the years, the Happy Gwailo has sent me flowers (including once for my birthday when I was travelling), and left me more lovely notes. I sometimes find one in my lunchbox, or just on the kitchen bench when I wake up in the morning. For my first Mother’s Day, he even made a personalised jigsaw puzzle for me, with a beautiful note from him and my daughter.
So today, I’m grateful that I have such an amazing, loving husband, who still leaves me little love notes.
What are you grateful for today?
