Penne Cole's thoughts on food, travel and more
My husband, like most people, has had some change in his work life. In his case, it’s a change to rosters and shift timings, with a major difference being that there is now a team being held in reserve in case someone on one of the active teams falls sick.
Today, he starts a 10-day reserve block, meaning that if one of the other teams gets stood down, he will have four hours notice to go back on active duty. While this may sound like 10 days off, while we’re still in lockdown with nowhere to go, to him it sounds like pure torture.
Fortunately, he’s found a project to keep him busy. He’s going to build me some raised timber garden beds. While this may sound relatively easy, one complicating factor is that the beds will line our driveway. Our very steep driveway. So he’s got to figure out how to make level planter boxes on a steep slope.
We’ve just ordered a load of timber, which will hopefully arrive soon and give him something to focus on while he’s at home for ten days. With any luck he won’t get called to work and I’ll have shiny new planter boxes by the end of the ten days!
Meanwhile, I’m busy deciding what to plant. Oh the choices!
Today, I’m grateful that my husband has found a new project to keep himself focused and busy, and I’m grateful that I will have lovely new planter boxes at the end of it!
What are you grateful for today?
